Über den Künstler
Die Objekte in Helfried Stanges Fotografien und Bildern setzen sich aus verschiedenfarbigen geometrischen Formen und Strukturen zusammen. In der Auseinandersetzung mit konstruktiven Elementen hat der Künstler Details aus dem ursprünglichen Funktionszusammenhang herausgelöst. Er überführt seine Fotografie durch Unschärfe in die Sphäre der Malerei. Es ist ein Dialog der Malerei mit der Fotografie. An die Formfindung schließt sich die farbige Gestaltung der konstruktiven Elemente an. Durch eine digitale Farblasur verfremdet er u.a. Industriearchitektur. Die ausgewogene Farbverteilung führt zu einer Balance in einem integrativen Konzept der Gleichgewichtung von Formen und Farben. (Komplementärfarben) .
Der Künstler Helfried Stange wurde 1946 in Meinersdorf geboren und lebt in Lippstadt. Die Wurzeln seines Bildprogramms finden sich in der Kunst geometrischer Abstraktion der 50er Jahre (mit Verwandtschaft zu Pop- und Op-art), welche wiederum in der Tradition von De Stijl, Abstraction Creation und dem Bauhaus steht. Mit dem Funktionalismus des Bauhaus`, welches eine "Synthese von geistig-künstlerischen und technisch-handwerklicher Ausbildung" anstrebte, identifiziert sich auch Stange. Dabei geht es dem mehrfachen Preisträger nicht um eine Annäherung an einen Stil als Wiedererkennungswert. Für ihn steht das gemeinsame ästhetische Bewußtsein im Vordergrund. Konsequenterweise folgte auf die Ausbildung und Tätigkeit als Schriftsetzer ein Studium an der Fachhochschule für Design in Münster (Studien u.a. bei Hartwig, Heydemann und Stegmann), was den Künstler bestätigte und seine Vorliebe für exaktes Arbeiten und strenge geometrische Formen festigte.
Er verwirklicht mit seinen Arbeiten Paul Klee's Wahlspruch: "Kunst bildet nicht ab sondern macht sichtbar."
The objects of Helfried Stange´s photographs and paintings are composed of geometrical primary forms in a variety of colours. Inspired by engineering the artist isolates certain technical details from their original functional context. He transfers his photographs into the sphere of painting by a lack of definition. The result is a dialog between painting and photography. Subsequently, the colour design of the various resulting segments is implemented. By using a transparent colour the artist modifies among others industrial architecture in a complete and radical way.
The sophisticated and elaborate distribution results in a balance of simple structures and primary colours, which is an integral part of the artist´s concept of catching the spectator´s eye by creating a strong signal effect.
Born in 1946 in Meinersdorf, the artist now lives in Lippstadt, Germany. The roots of his works can be traced back to the art of geometrical abstraction of the 50´s (also showing certain affinities with pop art and op art), which in turn stands in the tradition of De Stijl, Abstraction Creation, and the Bauhaus. Bauhaus functionalism and its aim of creating a ?synthesis of metal and artistic eduction on the one hand and technical und manual training on the other? may be regarded as Stange´s artistic credo. In this context however, the winner of several awards is less concerned with style as a recognizable tradition and a value in its own right than with aesthetic appreciation as his main principle. Consequently, his apprenticeship and occupation as a typographer was followed up by a degree course at the Arts College of Münster, Germany, were he studied Design ( his teachers being, among others, Hartwig, Heynemann and Stegmann). The college experience further intensified the artist´s bi as towards precision and strict geometric forms.
With his works of art he realizes Paul Klee´s motto: "Art doesn´t reproduce but makes visible"
